| Ink pot of circular shape resting on a semi-spheric base. The whole piece is decorated, on its lid with a geometric design, on its body with a double dragon (on one side) and foliage and geometric design (on both sides), and on its base with a lotus and geometric design. The pot has one loop on both upper sides of its body, to which a double chain is attached. Bronze, fine dark-green patina, partly encrusted. Himalayan Region, Nepal, 18th century. Height: 4 1/2" (11,5 cm). Obvious signs of great age, otherwise good condition. Note: it is important to mention that the Nepalese bronze casters (particularly the Newars), were among the best in Asia, together with Tibetan and Chinese casters. A striking and unusual piece. | |||||
