| A statue of goddess Uma, standing and wearing a sarong with adorned central sash, her belt decorated with rows of jewels. She also wears earrings, and eroded remnants of a necklace can also be seen above her breasts. Her slightly smiling face reflects a profound inner serenity. Grey sandstone. Cambodia, Khmer Period, Bayon Style, 13th century. Height: 18 1/2" (46,25 cm). The statue is mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of great age, erosion and chips in some areas, some stains, head reattached (old and fine restoration), otherwise very good condition. Ex. European collection. Note: Khmer Period torsos with their head are very rare, as most are headless. | |||||||||
