| Very old "warka" mask, of elongated triangular shape, with relief forehead and eyes, very long nose, tiny mouth, ending in a pointed chin. Eyes are pierced through. Wood, with greyish patina. Africa, Mali, Bamana Peoples. Height: 14 1/2" (36 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand which enhances its strange beauty. Some parts missing on the forehead, old insect infestation on the left side (no danger), large chip at the back of the top, several age cracks, erosion all over, otherwise good condition. A superb example of Africa's tribal art. | ||||||||||||||
