| Large tsampa bowl, its core made of wood, almost entirely covered with embossed silver decoration showing an intricate design of six zodiac animals (wild boar, tiger, rat, rabbit, ram and bull), surrounded with lotuses. Inside the bowl, remnants of a lacquered decor which must have originally represented a deity in clouds. Tibet, 18th century. Dimensions: diameter: 7" (17 cm), height: 1 3/8" (5,6 cm). Obvious signs of use and great age, some dents, otherwise very good condition. Note: the quality of this bowl and its elaborate decor suggest that it must have belonged to a high ranking Tibetan official. | ||||||||||||||
