| Head Of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy (a Chinese personification of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara), wearing a diadem on the front of which a small, highly stylized, Buddha Amithaba on a lotus is carved in relief, her face reflecting a profound inner serenity. Dark stone, with traces of a former plastering, meant to support a gilding or pigments, now gone. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.). Height: 12" (30 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Several chips and dents, otherwise very good condition. Ex. old European collection. NOTE: the piece is very heavy, so please consult us on the shipping cost. | |||||||||||||||
