| Semi-circular pendant ("huang" in Chinese). Light green jade, with a calcified area at the upper part and on some other tiny areas, due to a prolonged stay underground. The piece is decorated with an archaic geometric design on the center part, ending on each side with a stylized dragon head. There are traces of a rusty colouring in some areas, suggesting a former contact with an iron object in the grave where it was buried. China, Han Dynasty Period (-206 BC-220 AD). Dimensions: diameter: around 3 5/16" ( around 84 mm), width: 1 1/16" (27 mm). Very good condition. Another very interesting piece coming from an old French collection. NOTE: the first examples of such pendant were originally conceived during the Zhou Dynasty (-770-475 BC). | |||||||||||||
