| An ELLGREAVE POTTERY COMPANY HANDPAINTED CHARACTER JUG, 6 1/8" high, 3 7/8" wide, 5 3/8" deep, the blue-coated, seated figure holding a mug in one hand and a pipe in the other, his hat brim forming the rim. Manufacturer's printed mark on the underside, "Ellgreave Pottery Co. Ltd England" in the round, "Burslem" in the center of the circle thus formed, "Hand Painted" (on a single line) below this, "No 2" impressed in blind to the side. One glaze flake (2 mm. in diameter) on the figure's right shoulder, and two glaze flakes (2 mm. and 5 mm. in diameter) on the figure's rear right shoulder; otherwise in fine condition. | ||||||
