Wedgwood Character Jug
A WEDGWOOD HANDPAINTED CHARACTER JUG, 7 1/4" high, 4 1/2" wide, 5" deep, the aproned innkeeper holding two mugs overflowing with beer and seated on a barrel. Manufacturer's printed mark on the underside, "Wedgwood & Co. Ltd / England" surmounted by a reclining unicorn and the word (in script) "Handpainted," impressed shape mark ("762/1") on the underside, illegible painted initials (probably, those of the jug's painter) on the underside. The underside of the figure's apron has three glaze cracks (fine line, the longest 1 1/2"); otherwise, in fine condition.
