AMERICAN ART DECO LIGHTING
Chrome-plated metal and aluminum table lamp, 17" high, 11 3/4" diameter (maximum), the globe-shaped central element rising from a short, ring-turned, black-painted post and bisected diagonally by a raised black-painted band, the double-tiered aluminum shade of bell shape, narrow incised lines encircling the lower circumference of either tier, chrome-plate terminal knop, on a stepped, circular chrome-plated and black-painted base. The underside of the lamp contains a cast iron circular base liner (for weight and balance); a small iron plate riveted to the x-shaped center of this liner (through which the electric cord exits) is stamped "W8" (or perhaps "8M"). The lamp is otherwise unmarked. Very good condition; the slightest denting can be felt running one's finger around the lower edge of either circular tier; a few incidental scratches; a couple of small (maximum 1/8" x 1/16") losses to the chrome-plated surfaces; the surface sheen on the lower tier of the aluminum shade is slightly duller than that on the upper tier. No date (probably, an American lamp from the mid- to late 1930s).
