A small oil on board showing the interior of a large building. This was no doubt a sketch attributed to and from the estate of the well-listed American artist Elisha Wetherill whose impressionist style is becoming popular with collectors. For another example of his work see our number 7926.

A most unusual carved bone or tusk totem, 3 3/8" in height. Piled up are animal-like figures of a bear, eagle, and cat (?), each detail carved and with traces of red and black linings. Stands on a tusk carved base. Unsure of age but could it be about 1900.

An oil on board attributed to Philadelphia born artist Elisha Kent Kane Wetherill (1874-1929) of sailboats by the shore. Wetherill led the impressionist movement in the United States, studying under Thomas Anschutz (1851-1912)and, in Paris, under James McNeill Whistler (1834-1903) and Jean Paul Laurens (1838-1921). He attended the University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
