A Impressionist painting of a young ballet dancer in front of a mirror, signed by the artist, lower right. Titled, verso, "La Petite Dansuese" and also signed Jocelyne Sequin (French, 1917-1999). The frame measures 22" X 18", and has been repaired in the lower left corner. The sight measurements are 14" X 9". How well a lovely, small painting can tell a big story: the young ballet dancer stands before the mirror anticipating what could be her first performance.

Jim Bloom pulls from a well of personal experience using technical innovation to create a highly expressive and emotional style. Fearlessly innovating, drawing over cutout images, painting on paper or cardboard or whatever materials on hand, and creating elaborately layered abstract collages often with seething figural connotation ...click for details
