Hand painted tin tobacco box, 5 1/2" X 3 1/4". Hinged at rear , opening to a black interior with the name"J.H. Reimers" in scripted gold. The lid decoration has five gentlemen smoking their pipes, drinking and having a serious conversation. Some losses and wear on the lid decoration.

The English example is printed cardboard in excellent condition with an image of a ruined cathedral on the outside cover and Versailles on the inside. Measures 6 1/4" X 2" X 4 1/2". A classic, popular version of dragée, called leb'es in Arabic, confetti in Italian and Jordan almonds or sugared almonds in English, are whole almonds coated with a sugar shell, made in various colors. An early 19th century decanter box with an especially fine presentation. The inside is inlaid with stringing, stars and a shell; while the outside is even more elaborate, with stringing throughout. Original lock. While there may have been three decanters, there is now only one, a cut glass leaded type, cut decorated and with a fitted stopper. Some restorations to damaged outside inlay.
