This appears to be a doorstop at first look, and it could be used as one, but it is actually some kind of pulley, since there is a pulley wheel mounted at the dolphin's tail. I believe it may have been the base of a flagpole at a yacht club, etc., used to run the lines that would hoist the flag. 11 1/2" tall, solid brass.

A matched pair of vases, each about 12" in height. The vivid colors- especially that blue! suggest an era of about 1910-1925, or early "Art Deco", as does the graphic design of flowers. The bottom is stamped with the Royal Doulton mark and numbered 86678 and scratch marked ""M B" for Maude Bowen.
