A beautifully engraved tumbler dating to C1740 and originating from the Silesian area of what was then Bohemia. Made from fine quality soda glass the tumbler has a slightly everted form and is covered in engraving of the highest quality; befitting its area of origin. There are two each of the two types of engraved fields; a zig-zag design surmounted by a basket of flowers and a curtain like scrolled field. A superb Dutch engraved Saxon goblet dating to C1740. A tall round funnel bowl copper wheel engraved with the arms of the Seven United Provinces of the Netherlands; encircling a lion rampant. To the left of the arms is a period character clasping seven arrows in a similar fashion to the lion. The arrows symbolic of the seven provinces. A fine Dutch toasting glass dating to early in the 18th century; C1720-40 and constructed very delicately from soda glass. A fine stem; drawn from the trumpet bowl and mounted on a conical foot with rough pontil. The bowl is relatively large and shows evidence of shearing; with a high start and finish point, as does the foot. A Dutch wine glass dating to C1770. A bell bowl with beaded base*; above a double series opaque twist stem comprising four thick threads around an inner gauze. A wide conical foot with rough pontil. Soda glass and in good condition; some light scratches to the underfoot. Height: 6 ½” Rim: Just over 2 ½” Foot: Just under 3” *Five beads around a central bead. The view inside the bowl can be seen in my third photo.

A Dutch firing glass dating to C1770. The bowl period engraved with Jacobite motifs: a six petal rose, a closed bud, an oak leaf and an open bud, all of which have Jacobite meaning and appear on some English Jacobite glasses. The thick double series opaque twist stem comprises four spiral threads around an inner gauze. The glass mounted on a firing foot with rough pontil. Soda glass with a light blue tint. A fine Façon de Venise toasting glass dating to late in the 17th century and constructed very delicately from soda glass. A particularly fine stem drawn from the trumpet bowl and mounted on a very wide conical foot with rough pontil. The bowl rim is delightfully uneven from shearing and shows evidence of fire polishing. A large and rare Spanish tankard produced c1770 in the Royal Spanish glassworks of La Granja De San Ildefonso in Segovia; 80 km north of Madrid. There is an engraved and gilded ornate border above a foliate border to the body of the tankard. The handle is applied appropriate to period and is quite unusual with a thick reinforcement spine. A tall Dutch flute dating to C1770-80. The bowl finely engraved with an unidentified and unusual armorial; the stem contains a single series opaque ribbon twist. Finished with a wide conical foot with rough pontil. Soda glass. Perfect. Height: A tall 8 3/16” Rim Diameter: 2 3/16” Foot Diameter: 3 1/4" Please note: The blue tinted metal gives the impression that the glass has a colour twist stem. Very attractive, but not a colour twist in the true sense.
