C1750 Fine Engraved Georgian Airtwist Goblet
A mid 18th century English Georgian airtwist goblet dating to C1750. A capacious round funnel bowl above a multiple spiral air twist stem with an inverted baluster at the shoulder and a medial angular knop. The glass mounted on a conical foot with rough pontil. Lead glass and in great condition. Height: 8 1/8” Rim: Just over 3 5/8” Foot: Just over 3 1/4” What elevates this glass over the norm is the superb period engraving to the bowl of flowers, foliage and a bee. The large leaves have fine detail engraved to the matt surface, each of the daisy like flowers has a polished centre within a polished circlet; and the bee and other flower type feature shaded and polished highlights. A fine glass.
