An early Kyoto pottery lidded squat baluster jar with underglaze cobalt-blue landscapes. This jar dates to the last half of the 18th century and measures 10cm high X 14cm diameter, or 4" high X 5 1/2" diameter. It has one chip to the rim 1cm wide and numerous small chips to the lid's rim. The staining on the lower section of one side can be removed, but to do so would alter the whole piece's appearance. It was sold by Yamanaka Co.'s branch before 1942 in New York
