Each of this pair of porcelain sake bottles is marked Eiraku and dates to about 1890. Each has a silver rim and throat liner which has tarnished with age. The cloisonne influenced decoration has relief trailed slip around the lotus scrolls, cloud and half diamond bands. Each is 13cm high or 5 1/8th inches high and is undamaged.

Executed in ink, light colors and gofun on silk, this painting depicts a man guiding a bamboo raft through rapids, probably at or near Arashiyama in Kyoto. It is signed Shuzan, most likely Matsuo Shuzan, a later 19th century Kyoto artist. The style is nearer Nihonga than Shijo. Measurements are 33.3cm high X 38.3cm wide for the image, and 55.5cm high X 61cm wide overall. Condition is good, except for a faint line visible along the borders.

A rare Japanese Satsuma pottery two-part device for producing scents, late Edo. Unsigned, it has finely executed shells, tsuba, phoenix and floral roundels with birds in gold and enamels. It measures 11 inches high X 10.5 inches wide, or 28cm X 26cm overall. This device has been used and there are traces of ash in the base, slight staining to the sides, hairline cracks to the upper section and an old repair to the lid. A finely executed unsigned shakudo fuchi-kashira set, 19th century. With gold and silver onlay of stirrups, horse bits and riding crops, this set dates to the early to mid 19th century. Measurements are 3.8cm and 3.3cm long.

This Seto plate is decorated in underglaze blue and iron brown with a cherry spray, the character for cuckoo (hototogisu), and what probably are pine needles. It dates to circa 1850 and measures 10.25 inches or 26cm diameter. There is a 1cm chip to the rim and five firing spur marks in the center.

This pair of iron abumi is inlaid with silver and gold cherry blossoms on their fronts and sides. Each is signed Kashu Ujinobu. The family name was Katsuki. There were two generations of Ujinobus active, according to Robert Haynes book on sword fitting makers, The Index of Japanese Sword Fittings and Associated Artists. See entry H11016.0. A Japanese Hirado porcelain incense burner, c. 1840. The lid is modeled as Hotei, with his mouth slightly open for smoke to escape. He is supported on a rectangular base held by two Chinese boys (Karako), each with slightly differing costume. It measures 5" high X 7" wide, or 12.4cm X 17.5cm. No damage. The base rocks slightly.

A finely decorated Japanese Kutani porcelain ewer, circa 1880-1900. The shape is modeled on 16th century Chinese ewers of kinrande type which were admired in Japan. It is marked Kutani on the base. Measurements are 9 3/4 inches or 24.7cm high. There is no damage, but slight wear to the gilding on the ewer's rim.

A Japanese white ceramic bulb bowl with underglaze cobalt-blue by the Kinkozan studio. This unusual piece has a white slip and a Chinese style landscape on the exterior's sides. Measurements are 5.5cm high X 21.4cm long X 16.5cm wide, or 2 1/4 inches X 8 1/2 inches X 6 1/2 inches. There are no damages.

A Japanese decagonal keyaki jizai or pothook, 19th century. From an old Pacific Northwest collection, this hook has a very dark patina and heavy wear where a rope was slung for suspension of a pot or teapot. It measures 38.5cm long or 15". There is a recent long shallow crack visible in one image.
