A Japanese ivory netsuke carved as Kinko riding on a giant carp and holding a scroll in his hands; signed Kosen. the fish's eyes are inlaid. The carving is 3.6cm high X 5.5cm long and there are slight areas of wear overall. This carver is listed in Lazarnick, p 673 as a late 19th century maker in Osaka.

A Japanese Satsuma pottery box in the form of a lacquer container (karabitsu), circa. 1900. Signed Kyokko, this box has an orange-red ground with finely executed panels with landscapes, bamboo and iris and a bird in flight. There is a signature reading Kyoko or Kyokko. It measures 3 1/4" high X 6" diameter or 8.3cm X 15.3cm dia.. It has no damages other than two very small .25cm chips to the inner rim.

A Korean stoneware maebyong decorated in underglaze iron-black, circa 1200. It has two large chrysanthemum or peony sprays on the sides and a band of petals around the short neck, all under an olive toned glaze. Measurements are 10 1/4 inches or 26cm high X 6 inches or 15cm diameter. There is a repaired break at the rim, visible in the images and small areas of glaze loss at the footrim. A rare Japanese tapestry weave or tsuzuri-ori panel probably depicting the god Oh-kuni-nushi. This figure from the mythological prehistory of Japan holds a bow and sword and wears a necklace with magatama. The panel is framed and glazed and measures 28 1/2 inches high X 25 1/2 inches wide without frame, or 72.5cm X 64.7cm. Dating of this tapestry weave picture is circa 1900. The frame has various small dents and the backing paper is damaged.

A small cylindrical Chinese ivory brushpot, 19th century. Carved in sunken relief with figures in gardens, this brushpot mesures 10.4cm or 4 1/4" high. It has an opework base with floral scrolls. There is a crack extending to one of the carved panels, visible in the images.

A tall pair of Chinese hung-mu and boxwood stands, circa 1800-1820. Each stand has beaded legs and stretchers, the upper stretchers with boxwood bi disks on each side. Each is 35 1/2" high X 10" wide X 10" deep or 89cm X 25.5cm X 25.5cm. There has been minor shrinkage to the top panel of each, as well as minor wear overall. Reglued tops. Both with a nice patina.

A Chinese hardwood snapline holder, 19th century. With three engraved stars, a heart shaped well for the ink soaked material and slots in sides and top, this well used carpentry tool is a fine work of folk art. It has a slot for a spatulate device in one side, an iron crank and wood wheel for the ink line. Its shape resembles that of a shoe or boat. There is a heavy ink crust worn in places. Dimensions are 3 1/4" high X 8 3/4" long X 3 1/4" wide or 8cm X 22cm X 8cm.
