A double-gourd sake bottle in the style of late Ming Chinese porcelain for the Japanese market, by Eiraku Sokusen, 20th century. A seal stamped just above the base reads Eiraku. Strongly influenced by shonzui wares, this bottle depicts boys playing in a garden with pinwheels and a large character. It measures 21cm or 8 inches high. No damage. No box

A Japanese ivory netsuke finely carved as a tumbler, by Ryoshu, circa 1950-1960. This model is signed in sunken relief between the small himotoshi. The carver is listed in Lazarnick p 886 as from Tokyo and active in the postwar period although born in 1912. Measurements are 2.6cm high X 3.3cm wide. This tumbler is part of an exhibition and sale at the Crane Gallery of netsuke, okimono and ojime. The netsuke are from three old private collections.

Japanese silk crepe kake fukusa or gift cover, circa 1930. Decorative techniques include resist and painted designs with tiny areas of gold thread embroidery. The celebratory design is a miniature Uba and Jo with pine, plum and bamboo, a crane and hairy tailed tortoise, all symbols of longevity and renewal. The obverse is a bright red silk crepe. A Japanese silk crepe kake fukusa or gift cover, with painted, resist dyed and embroidered design, circa 1930. A drunken shojo dances with a giant sake cup and dipper in front of a wine jar, while a seated shojo claps and sings, all by a lake shore. The cream silk has been tinted gray and blue, the figures, reeds and wine jar have small bits of gold thread embroidery as accents. The obverse is orange silk crepe.
