Chinese rosewood vanity chest, 19th century
Made of rosewood (hung-mu), this vanity chest's top opens to reveal a folding mirror and its front swings open for access to the inner drawers and two sliding compartment lids. The front base, mirror frame and four drawer faces are inlaid with mother-of-pearl floral devices. The various hinges and hasps are engraved. Measurements are 19.2cm high X 29.3cm deep X 22.1cm wide, or 7.5 inches X 11.5 inches X 8.5 inches. It dates to the last half of the 19th century. As to condition: It is refinished, the mirror is a replacement and there are some very small old peg repairs to the top.
