| This top shaped vessel has a stamped and black tinted design of vertical lines dividing rows of circles. At the base of the domed neck are brown bands bracketed by black. It measures 15cm or 6 inches long. It is closely related to a group of vessels illustrated in Charles Wilkinson's Nishapur, Pottery of the Early Islamic Period. There is wear overall to the surface, a surface chip at the pointed base and light erosion on the shoulder. This vessel is from Northeast Iran and dates to about 800 A.D.. | ||
