Normandy Scene with  Sheep by H Peabody Flagg o/b
Beautiful oil painting of sheep in Normandy by listed artist, H Peabody Flagg. c.1912. Approximately 9 1/2" x 13 1/2" WITHOUT the frame. WITH the frame it measures 13 1/2" x 17 1/2". Signed lower left "H. Peabody Flagg 1912". On the back is a lable that reads "FAVOR, RUHL & CO.'S "VANDYKE" CANVAS BOARD The fabric used on this board is woven specially and prepared with a pronounced surface NEW YORK BOSTON CHICAGO" Also written in cursive is Late November, Normandie. Henry Peabody Flagg was born in Somerville MA in 1859. He was a pupil of Carolus-Duran in Paris. A member of the New York Arch League., 1899; Boston Art Club; Salma Club, 1904. There are two historical paintings in Flower Memorial Library, Watertown NY. His address in 1929 was 26 E. 23rd St., NY, NY. He died in 1937. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art, Fieldings and Mallett. Very good condition.
