Newcomb College Pottery Arts & Crafts Vase
Wonderful Newcomb College pottery vase. c.1913. Approximately 4 5/8" tall. I believe the design to be the Freesia motif. The potter was Joseph Fortune Meyer. The decorator was Sadie Irvine. Marks include the registration number FZ30. The circled letter B which denotes a buffed clay body with semi matt glaze used mostly between 1910-1912. The impressed shape number 46. The JM monogram for Joseph Meyer, 1896-1927. The S monogram for Sadie Irvine and the circled N for Newcomb College. Newcomb College is a part of Tulane University designed to enhance women's education in New Orleans. Very good condition.
