A spectacular early 19th. century Flemish Table Cabinet or Strong Box. It is made of walnut with ebonised wood carving and turned columns. The front has a scene of two armoured knights fighting, made from gilt brass and pewter inlaid into tortoishell and flanked by double columns of turned ivory. One end of the cabinet can be pulled out to reveal a secret compartment and the top of the lid can be slid aside to reveal another.
