English Black Basalt Four-Sided Molded Bowl, dated June 21, 1813. Molded decoration of the Arms of Wellington on one side. The other side has a wreath, with India, Portugal, and Spain. Vittoria, 21st June 1813. The Penninsula War. The date refers to the English defeat of French forces, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, in Spain. Perfect condition. This piece is quite black, as opposed to the grayish bowl in the photographs.
