The body covered with an underglaze cobalt glaze and a transparent overglaze. Raised detailing emphasize scales,fins,mouth and eye. The base is unglazed but wonderfully stained with splotchs of ink. The fish is an emblem of wealth, harmony and connubial bliss. As an art form it was more popular in Korea than China.
