Cufflinks by Sam Kramer, ca. 1950, stamped
"sterling",bearing the familiar mushroom logo, and true to the surrealist creations that make him well known. The irregular shaped biomorphic link has an applied plaque and a dotted bead surrounded by stamped dots. The ends are joined by an oval link.
These cufflinks are pictured on page 168 of
Warman's Jewelry, 2nd Edition, by Christie
Romero. 1" x 1/2"
An early Spratling cuff, ca. 1940's, stamped
"Spratling Silver" and "made in Mexico". A classic design, showing pre-hispanic influence. Simply stamped with a line border
on each edge of the face, then a rope design
stamp running through the middle. The shank is split and open at the terminals which are
heart shaped. Just shy of 5/8" wide, to 1" at the ends, and 5 1/2" plus a 1" opening. There is a small rift, about 1/8" at one of the terminals which appears to be as old as the piece itself.
