A lovely pale green faceted cushion cut tourmaline ring mounted in an 18K yellow gold and sterling silver shank. The ring is designer signed, looks like an MA. It is also marked 750 and 925. The ring is a size 7 and the stone measures 1/2" square. Condition is excellent. It was purchased originally at one of the finer department stores, (Neiman Marcus, Sacks, Nordstroms.)

A wonderful vintage Kieselstein Cord 18K gold ring with a deep purple amethyst in the center. The ring is done in a sort of Etruscan Revival setting. This unusually large and ornate frog effigy, if not reconditioned as a pendant, would be a museum-piece. It was found circa 1950, with normal and natural wear, then cleaned and polished, fitted with a bale and probably gold-dipped to restore its original appearance.

Looking at the result, I find it hard to regret the changes, even though a lot of value was lost. Now we're free to enjoy it as a jewel, not just admire it in a public display case...
