This beautiful 14k (tested) rose gold pin has a floral and crescent moon motif (a crescent moon is the symbol for the female principal, intuition and new beginnings), accented by 10 rose cut diamonds in closed-back settings. The diamonds are erratically cut, which is typical of the era, and they sparkle nicely. It has 2 makers marks: an oak leaf in an oval, and the letters “JR” and possibly another that is illegible; no hallmarks. It measures 1-1/2 x ¾”...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst is a lovely delicate shade, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. Amethysts are said to bring calm, help banish headaches, and protect against drunkenness. The bale is decorated very prettily...

This wonderful Georgian ring could have been worn by one of Jane Austen’s more well-to-do characters! It features a rose-cut diamond (pointed top instead of flat), set in 14 or 15 carat gold with decorations in black enamel on the shank, which are still in excellent condition. Diamond is the birthstone for April. The ring is approximately a size 5. It isn’t possible to estimate the weight of set rose cut diamonds; it is in the I range for clarity – normal for its era...

This antique gold necklace, referred to as a reviere, is English, circa 1800. Radiant, faceted ,foil back pastes create this very special necklace. The cushion shaped pastes are foiled with a rich pink color, perfectly simulating pink topaz. The use of foil enhanced the reflection of light, as stones were characteristically set closed back. The use of foil not only contributed to the vibrancy, but to the distinctive hue...

Brilliant and glistening foiled diamonds were hand cut and polished with each stone individually shaped and set. For this "all by hand" method, no two stones are exactly the same in shape or size. This fact is important in determining the age of antique jewelry and one reason why Georgian jewelry is desired. All diamonds are set in pinched rub-over settings. The center oval gem is freely suspended and gives gentle movement to the earring catching the light...

It is difficult to translate the level of craftsmanship of this early 18th century ring, undoubtedly created by a master jeweler. It has a central cabochon sapphire set in a silver rub over collet replicating a flower bud. The shoulders are each a flower form mirror image and are each set with small rose cut diamond. The silver work is so finely rendered it melds with the gold below it. Tiny accent of gold "bullets" top the flower formations...

What a lovely pair of Georgian amethyst gold earrings, circa 1830! They are rendered in 15k gold with cannetille work. Cannetille is the process of using finely tested gold wires to create a type of gold embroidery. The filigree created was labor intensive and could only be reproduced today by a highly skilled artisan at an exorbitant cost.

The amethysts are faceted and foil back, giving them a marvelous hue. They are in excellent condition with the gold retaining the rich, original pat...

This beautiful example of a Maltese Cross is Georgian, circa 1820. it is designed with four sculptured, translucent, chalcedony stones set in fine contrasting gold work. The chalcedony panels are centered with an emerald surrounded with natural pearls. The multi- colored gold work is so fine, it looks like it was magically spun with realistic flowers and spirals.
