This is a Victorian book chain, 17” long, with two spring rings. Men: use it for your pocket watch, in true Victorian style! Ladies, you can do the same, or use it for a locket or charm or whatever you like! Each link, which looks like a little book – hence the name - has a pattern stamped or carved into it. A very nice Victorian 15K yellow gold ring featuring three beautifully colored spessartite garnets separated by rows of seed pearls. These garnets are not the typical murky reddish stones, but brighter orangey-red with nice fire. The gold surfaces are elegantly engraved in a floral motif that goes all the way around the shank. The ring was expertly sized at some point, keeping the hallmarks intact, and with matching engraving. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1868.

Origin: England, 1868...

I have just returned from a buying trip and found this beautiful ring in London . This 15 karat gold ring has five bands with a wonderful play of color. The use of cultured pearls, rose diamonds, sapphires, rubies and rare green garnets ares soft and elegant together. Green garnets, known as demantoid, are quite rare and were popular in jewelry at the turn of the 20th century.

The five bands are connected in the back and open and close freely...

This sweet ring is so very Victorian. A swirl of 10 k gold holds two dark red garnets in 6-prong settings. The ring is a size 6 1/2. It is marked [and tests] 10k. There is a worn maker's mark D. I.

A lovely Victorian tortoise shell pique pendant in a heart shape. The puffed surface is worked with gold and silver inlay in an ornate floral pattern within a scalloped inlaid border. The pattern of two flowers joined together by a ribbon, and of course, the overall heart shape suggest that the pendant would have been given as a love token. The tortoise has very nice markings and translucency when held to the light.

Origin: America or England, ca. 1860...

A lovely, heavy 18K yellow gold fancy cable chain necklace, with alternating double and beaded links. Here is a fascinating ring consisting of strands of rose gold tied in a knot, and studded with gold balls. One ball is missing, which makes it pleasantly asymmetrical. The decorated area measures 5/8 x 1/2” and the shank measures 3/16”. The ring has a maker’s mark (“J.M”), the anchor for Birmingham, the date mark for 1903-4, “9”, and “375”, however it tests as 10k. It’s approximately size 7, and weighs 5.2g...

This extremely cool and very collectable brooch depicts 5 turbaned “blackamoors.” Made from (unmarked, tested) 14k rose gold, and black and white enamel, the details are picked out in gold (their eyes, mouths, collars and turbans). There is a partial hallmark on the pin, and old repair to the pin stem assembly (invisible from the front), and some damage to the black enamel, especially the two outer figures’ noses and the chin of the rightmost figure...

Here is a sweet Victorian pin with the cross, anchor, and heart, symbols of faith, hope and charity. It has really nice detail work in the metal. Unmarked, but apparently made with a layer of gold on top of a layer of copper. The center of the heart is set with a (faux?) seed pearl, and the cross is set with 11 tiny turquoise-colored cabs – they are too tiny for a definite ID. It measures 1-3/16 x 7/8"...

So much symbolism in this pretty jewel! It depicts a crescent moon – symbol of the female principal, intuition and new beginnings; an arrow – symbol of swiftness (think: Katniss Everdeen), Sagittarius, and sexual attraction (Cupid’s bow); and a 5-pointed star, symbolic of so many things we won’t even start! It is set with 11 turquoises (birthstone for December, believed to be good for healing, focus, etc.) and one seed pearl. It tests as 14k (rose) gold...

Mid-1800s yellow gold drop earrings. These appear to bear the hallmark of the city of Altenburg, Thuringia, Germany, pre-1886. The purity designation is 800, which indicates near 20K gold (19.2K actually). My tester indicates greater than 18K gold. Each has a nice dark blue sapphire in the middle of a gold "flower" and a pearl at the top. The sapphires are about 6mm diameter; the pearls about 4mm. Total weight is about 3.2 gm (0.10 TOz). Drop length is about 1 3/8 inch. Excellent condition.

The necklace is marked twice with French 18K marks and an illegible maker’s mark.

Origin: France, ca. 1900. Condition: excellent. Dimensions: 30-1/2” long. Weight: 18.3 grams.

A fine Victorian 18K yellow gold fancy link long chain necklace. The chain comprises alternating large and small oval links, each inset with an ornate scrolling pattern with millgrained accents. The design is reminiscent of the stone tracery separating the panels in a Gothic stained glass window. Necklaces of this style are distinctly French and were popular throughout the Second Empire and into the Belle Epoque. The necklace is stamped with French 18K marks and an illegible goldsmithâ€...
