Here is a cheerful bow brooch, made from blue and turquoise plique a jour with twisted wire work running through it. The colors in the photographs may be deceptive, depending on your computer monitor. The enamel over the wire spirals is turquoise, and the rest is a medium blue. Measuring 1-1/4” x 7/8", it weighs .11 oz or 3.1g. On the back it is marked with “800”, and an illegible (maker’s?) mark; we believe it is Italian. The silver on the front has a gold wash...

Set with nine square, faceted garnets mounted on an openwork silver frame nicely detailed with molded flowers and beads. The silver retains a light layer of gilding; the stones are in lovely condition with points intact. On the reverse are some indentations that may be obscured marks and signs of a removed watch hook. The C-clasp is quite sturdy and secure. The brooch measures 1 ½ inches across. The dating is conservative.

Here is a really lovely sash buckle, designed for Tiffany by the famous George Shiebler. It is marked “Tiffany & Co,” the winged S for Shiebler, “Sterling,” and “4758.” It is 3” x 2”, with a slight curve to it, and weighs 42.2g/1.49oz. Decorated with flowers and foliate designs, it’s a beauty. (Geo. W. Shiebler & Co. were in business under that name from 1876 until almost 1915.) It came in a Tiffany fabric bag, which may be original to the piece. In excellent condition...

Here is an intriguing cigarette case with niello enamel. It has a flower motif on both sides, and a blank space for a monogram on one side. It is marked (and tests as) sterling silver. The piece measures 3-7/8 x 2-15/16”, and weighs in at 4.92 ounces. In excellent condition, though since the elastic is in such good condition, it may be a replacement. We believe this case is pre-1920, but would welcome other opinions...

This charming brooch is very pretty and wearable. Plique a jour jewels are very hard to come by these days – they are somewhat fragile, rare, and I believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin seems to be missing one leaf. The space has been filled with a drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. Along the main vein of each leaf and the stem are paste accent stones, and it is centered by a faux pearl...

Set in vermeil silver, with Birmingham hallmarks for sterling, this black basalt medallion features the "Horse Startled by Lion" black basalt Wedgwood plaque, this one slightly less detailed than original, and smaller. The pendant measures 1 1/4" x 1 1/8" and is in excellent condition, no breaks or losses, and the vermeil is also intact, with a soft gold luster. The date letter is not clear, but it is likely from the era 1900- 1920. While Wedgwood has made jasperware jewelry of all designs, t...
