A lovely small or miniature (3-1/2" x 2-5/8") watercolour painting in a frame by John Hubert Beynon (1890-1970). Born in Manitoba, he painted landscapes in Ontario and Quebec. Represented in the National Gallery of Canada, he studied art in New York and in the Central Ontario School of Art. This original, unsigned pen and ink drawing depicts an Atlantic side paddle steam vessel equipped with sail probably executed in the late 1800's. The drawing has been conservation framed with multiple black matting for dramatic effect and coordinated with a custom, elm burl frame. It was drawn on heavy water-color paper and contains some old casual doodles by the artist on the backside. The piece measures 12" X 15-1/2", and the image size is 3" X 6-1/4".

This good quality pastel is in original condition with some damage which I personally would live with.
The ebonised gilt lined frame is also a little nibbled but again bearable.
All in all a nice honest picture.
