A charming woodland scene, the autumnal sun streaming through the partially leafless trees.
A red deer stag and hind centre.
The sign of a competent painter is when the shades and tones are used to create a lovely picture, in this case it is brown.
Minor foxing mainly to the edges, personally I would frame it as it is and enjoy this lovely Victorian watercolour without touching it.
Signed and dated lower left 1898...
Watercolor on Ivory, original ivory frames. Portraits of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI signed D. Dumont. 4" x 3".
This picture is nicely painted by an artist that knew boats and the sea.
A most pleasing scene, signed lower right.
I am almost certain it is the original giltwood frame which bears a few small losses with gilt mount.
Size excluding frame 16.5cm by 34cm
Size including frame 35.5cm by 54.5cm
Most probably painted in the late 19th Century 20th Century, very nicely painted.
I will not try and describe what type this is as others are bound to know much more than myself, what I do know is that the artist certainly knew how to paint ships. Signed with a monogram lower right. I think it’s the original plain wood frame with what is a rather faded mount. My advice is to leave alone, enjoy it as it is.
