A Chimbu Province man named "Yame" is wearing a circular forehead ornament made from the base of a conus shell. Strands of nassarius shells hang down on either side of his red painted nose. The red and black feathers of a Pesquet's Parrot and the green feathers of a lorikeet are positioned in a whisker-like manner. 18" x 15 foot color photography by Langdon Clay, 42nd Street New York City between 7th and 8th Avenues. Shot with an 8x10 view camera at a minute to two minute exposures shooting from the Times Square island down the whole block with one horizontal. The final archival print is the result of digitally splicing together the 22 vertical 8x10 negatives. This is an amazing work, documenting a period of time, when the area was a seedy landscape on porn theaters...
Framed photogravures of palms from Odoardo Beccari's "Asiatic Palms". Beccari (1843-1920) was an Italian Naturalist and the pre-eminent authority on his subject. The photogravures were made in Florence and published by the Botanic Gardens in Calcutta in 1908. The presentation aesthetic is comparable to the (later) images by Blosfeldt. Each piece is approx. 19" x 25"; framed with conservation materials. In excellent condition.
