Superb American coin silver soup ladle, the bright-cut flared handle narrowing to a twist handle that leads to the deeply scalloped bowl. Very pretty hand chased sterling basket by Whiting Mfg. Co. Basket measures 3 3/4" wide and 2 3/8" tall ( excluding the handle). This Aesthetic Movement basket has a lovely detailed foliate motif (morning glory?), a fluted rim, and a gilded interior. The twisted handle is attached to a beautiful curved silver application and rests on the side of the basket. There is a monogram on the back. Circa 1870. Excellent condition.
