A very fine 12-piece set of gilt silver and mother of pearl dessert, fruit or cheese knives presented in their original fitted box. The tapered mother of pearl handles are tipped with silver finials and ferules decorated in a Louis XVI-style ribbon and reed motif. Most similar sets have plated blades, but these are silver. The silver is gilt, a process that is decorative, but also serves to prevent corrosion from the salts in cheeses which were often served in France as a dessert course...

A George II Large Footed Cup or Beaker by William Shaw and William Priest and Hallmarked in London, 1756 (clear marks). Dimensions; 4 1/8" high x 4" diameter at top, 2 3/4" at base; weight 6.9 Troy ounces. Some minor wear and a slight bend at the base (see picture). Overall in very good condition.

Early American Federal Period Coin Silver Sugar Tongs, with Shell Grips and Wheat Sheaf Medallions. By Edward Rockwell, Noted Silversmith of New York, and dating from circa 1810. Length; 6.75", weight 2.3 Troy ounces. Excellent condition.

A Rare George I Silver Meat Platter with a gadrooned edge. Hallmarked in London in 1727 (the last year of George I's reign) and made by John Montgomery (the mark is rubbed, but can be made out). Dimensions; 14" x 10.5" x 0.5" high; weight a heavy 31.1 Troy ounces. Some surface scratches from use and one very small dimple on the surface.

A Rare Small Sterling Silver Sauce Boat by Isaac Cookson, (one of the most notable silvermiths of the time). Hallmarked in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1742, during the Reign of George II (1727-1760). Dimensions; 5.5" long x 2.5" x 2.5"; weight 3 ounces. Excellent condition.

An Unusual George II Silver Tripod Base Chamberstick by John Cafe and Hallmarked in London, 1755. Dimensions; 3.5" high x 6.75" diameter; weight, 10.5 Troy ounces. Excellent condition. Note that the hallmarks are rubbed, but can be made out.

A Magnificent Sterling Silver Footed Tazza or Compote by Theodore B. Starr in a floral openwork pattern on both the edge and base. An inscription on the base dates from 1905. Boxed French Silver 5 piece Serving Set;13.7 Troy ounces total. Consists of a Carving Knife (12.5" marked Paris Acier Fondu), Carving Fork (11"), Salad Set (silver with ivory bowl and tines), both Fork and Spoon 11", and a Cake Server (11.25"). All silver stamped with the French Minerva mark as well as an axe in a diamond and the initial AH-presumably maker. Late 19th century. In original blue silk lined presentation box. Excellent condition.
