A classic sterling silver wine coaster with a turned mahogany base. The walls are simply decorated with vertical piercing and the front is engraved with the crest and motto of Scotland's Melville clan, an ancient family from whom author Herman Melville was descended. A Superb Pair of Sterling Silver Candlesticks by Jenkins & Jenkins of Baltimore, in business from 1908-1915 and successors to Jacoby and Jenkins (1894-1908). Dimensions; 6.25" high x 3.5" at the base. Unweighted (total weight is 11 Troy ounces) and in excellent condition.

Absolutely beautiful, very heavy, sterling tray.  It measures 22" long x 14 1/2" wide x 1" tall and weighs 2045 grams.  It is heavily decorated with flowers and leaves.  It is marked on the bottom "sterling" with what appears to be a beehive.  It is rare to find a sterling tray of this weight and beauty.

This is a Victorian sterling silver ladle made by The Whiting Co., circa 1900, the shaped oval bowl scalloped with a flared rim in a stylized petal pattern, rope twist handle flattened at the top for easy gripping, monogram on back DG, marker's mark, Sterling, 9 and 5, 7 1/4 " L, Excellent condition.

An 800 Silver (German) Four Footed Center Bowl, circa 1895. It has Extensive Repoussee Designs on the Inside Rim and the Center of the Bowl Depicting Romantic Scenes, Possibly Court or Royalty Related. It weighs 11.8 Troy ounces and measures 9" across by 2" high and is in excellent condition.

A lovely first standard (950/1000) silver tastevin, the bottom inset with a 1658 silver coin depicting the youthful image of Louis XIV surrounded by text translated as "Louis XIV, by grace of God, King of France and Navarre." The sides of the tastevin a decorated with clusters of grapes and elegantly curved godrons in the style typical of Orfevre Parrod. Coin inserts, however, are unusual in Parrod tastevins. The handle is worked in a simplified snake motif typical of Dijon...

This handled American coin silver cup was made by William K. Vanderslice in San Francisco, CA, circa 1870, consisting of a simple tapered cylindrical form with rope banding around rim and base. Vanderslice was an early California silversmith, working in the mid 19th century. He became widely acclaimed for his fine silverwork. This cup is marked with his name, San Francisco, makers mark and Pure Coin...

Consists of six knives (7.5"), forks (7"), spoons (5.75"), two serving spoons (10", 8.5") and a serving fork (7.75"); total weight 31.1 Troy ounces. Box is 14.5" x 10". Excellent condition.

A fine mid-19th century French silver tastevin (wine taster), the base inset with an 1810 Italian silver coin from the reign of Emperor Napoleon I as King of Italy. The bottom edge of the bowl is decorated with curved, scalloped "godrons" which were intended to reflect light through white wine to judge clarity. This tastevin does not have the "cupules" ("ovoides") specifically intended to deepen the color of red wines. The sides are decorated with grapevines and clusters of fruit...

This example is of small size, intended for use in evaluating cognac, Armagnac or calvados instead of wine. Unlike the “perles” and “godrons” found on the walls of a wine taster, a cognac taster more accurately reflects the liquid’s color using a smooth surface...

A finely detailed ornate mesh purse with handle. Made of 800 silver with a floral design around the clasp. The interior contains a unique mesh coin purse. One of the enlarged photos shows a small area under the clasp missing a hoop which we can easily repair if so desired. We can also polish the purse free of charge.

A Toddy or Punch Ladle in Sterling Silver by Gorham in the rare Louis XIV pattern, for Theodore B. Starr and Herman Marcus. It is in a bent ladle shape (may have been straight originally, but more likely it was based on designs in the George III period) and dates from about 1870, when the design was patented. It weighs 6.4 Troy ounces and measures 8" x 5", with a bowl of 4.5" x 3.5". Its unbent length would be 14.5". There is a monogram "N" on the underside of the handle...

A Sterling Silver Gorham Fruit or Center Bowl Made for Theodore B. Starr. Embossed Floral Edge and a Lobbed Center. An inscription in the center is to the Winslow Williams, for their 25th Anniversary (1883),from their employees. Gorham date mark for 1882. Dimensions; 10.75" in diameter x 3"high (3.75" foot diameter). Weight 18.4 Troy ounces. Excellent condition.

An elegant first standard (950/1000 pure silver) French silver tastevin in typical 18th century Burgundian style. Rather than with the typical "perles" and fluted "godrons", the bowl of this tastevin is decorated with repousse grape leaves and berries in the 18th century style. This treatment is sometimes seen in tastevins made by Parrod, but the particular decoration is different than any other we've seen...
