Handmade of colonial silver, this "mate" cup is of Uruguayan origin from the 1850-1870 period.
"Mate" is a special cup for drinking "yerba mate" a popular tea brewed from the leaves of a native holly (Ilex Paraguariensis). The perforated silver straw used for drinking the "mate" contains leaves carving.
Dimensions: 7.25" height (mate), diameter aprox. 3.25".

Pair of Edwardian Georgian sterling silver covered serving dishes. Made by John Round & Son Ltd in Sheffield in 1904. Each: Rectangular with chamfered corners and tapering sides. Cover raised and chamfered with twist-lock ring handle. Handle, covers, and rim gadrooned with scallop shells and leafing scrolls. A gorgeous twosome—make that foursome because the covers convert to bowls. Fully marked. Excellent condition.

Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau glass claret jug with silver overlay. Cylindrical with spread base, c-scroll handle, and small lip spout. Star cut to underside. Overlay in form of scrolls and diaper. Shaped tubular cartouche engraved with interlaced script monogram. Glass is red except handle which is clear. Very good condition.

A lovely and unusual Victorian sterling silver jelly knife in Towle’s 1880 “No. 128” pattern. Also known as “No. 28”, this pattern is characterized by a twisted handle, accented with beautiful bright-cut engraving. The serving end is shaped in the form of a leaf and is matte-gilt to highlight the floral engraving. Originally intended to serve savory jellies, the piece could now be used for pastries. The back is hallmarked by Towle and has the pattern number.

Very heavy sterling silver serving spoon in Dominick & Haff's outstanding 1898 "New King" pattern. This is one of the company's best patterns and is very difficult to find. The reverse is also marked with the retailer's mark for Bailey, Banks & Biddle.

An Oval Silver Tea Caddy; Made in Nuremberg, Germany, circa 1880 and Stamped Germany for export at a later date. Village scenes on each side. Weight 6.4 Troy ounces. Dimensions; 4.25" high x 4" wide x 2.75" deep. Has the "n" mark for Nurenberg and the number 13 (0.812 silver) on the lip of the bottom (both barely visible in the picture). Excellent condition.
