Victorian sterling silver bowl. Made by Frederick Brasted in London in 1884. Round and curved with raised and spread foot. At top chased and engraved scene depicting idyllic countryside with rolling hills and big sturdy trees. In foreground a fox is pursued by hounds from two directions and a man stands ready to shoot. At bottom, gadrooning. Scrolled cartouche (vacant). Fully marked. Very good condition with nice patina.

A Large Glass Vanity or Dresser Jar, with a Sterling Repousse Top with a Cherub Design. Dimensions; 5.5" high x 4" wide. Marked sterling, but no maker mark. Minor bruises around the lip of the top and a very small internal chip (?) at the base of the jar. Very good condition overall. Circa 1890.

Superb American coin silver soup ladle, the bright-cut flared handle narrowing to a twist handle that leads to the deeply scalloped bowl. Twist handle pieces are especially desirable, particularly when combined with other outstanding decorative elements. The back is stamped with the mark for Farrington & Hunnewell, silversmiths who worked in Boston beginning in 1835.

Gorgeous Titania glass vase by historic maker Loetz with engraved silver overlay, ca 1900. Upward tapering sides with gently flared mouth. Sides concave and corners chamfered. Overlay in form of vertical leafing scrollwork mounted at corners and joined on sides by double arches. Glass is mottled and iridescent white shading to green with exposed patches of the solid cobalt blue interior. Very good condition.

On top parcel gilt with engine-turned ornament with wavy lines between honeycomb; sizes have diaper in trapezoidal frames. Cedar-lined interior; open leather-lined bottom. Fully marked. An elegant classic-style French silver tastevin of traditional form. The bowl is decorated with raised "perles", concave "cupules" and elongated "godrons" for assessing the depth of color in both red and white wines. The curved sides help concentrate the aroma, so only a very small amount of wine has to be poured to judge quality. The looped handle allows the tastevin to be worn suspended from a chain. Antique American sterling silver christening cup by the Whiting Manufacturing Company, circa 1890. This elegant large cup has a slightly waited body with a soft, warm finish that has never been monogrammed. In excellent original condition it measures 3.5" tall and 3" diameter at the base.

Set of 8 American Modern sterling silver matchbox holders, ca 1920. Retailed by Udall & Ballou in New York. Rectangular with open ends; sides have cutout tubes. On each is applied enameled dog. Five breeds represented. On back engraved block presentation: “J.G.R. / FROM / M.A.P.” In original leather-bound case with fitted velvet, silk, and gilt-stamped retailer’s stamp. A handsome pair of sterling silver sugar tongs from the reign of King William IV. The sides are decorated in a classical late Georgian shell and thread motif. The quality is very fine. The interior have pristine hallmarks for London, 1834-35, and the maker’s mark for William Eaton.
