A large highly decorative sterling silver figural-form bonbon spoon, circa 19th C, .950 silver, made in Yokahama Japan for the American market, comprising a full size geisha girl handle holding a parasol, the parasol is the bowl of the spoon. Beautifully executed face, kimono and obi, as well as parasol, this is a perfect example of Victorian cutlery at its finest. Marked on back STERLING. This is a beautiful American sterling silver bowl made by Whiting Manufacturing Co. It is oval shaped with a shallow center and is partially looped and bordered by flowers. The sides of this bowl are looped into a c-scroll rim. It is monogrammed, 10 1/2 inches long and weighs 7.92 oz. and in excellent condition.

This Victorian serving piece is a small sterling silver ladle made by Whiting and perfect for pouring a fruit sauce over that special dessert. It has a lovely square shaped gilded bowl with a scalloped rim edge and shell ribbing and beaded handle, monogram ESC, maker's mark "W", a winged griffin, "Sterling, PatAppp For", measures 6 in; very good condition with age appropriate wear to gilt.

A Toddy or Punch Ladle in Sterling Silver by Gorham in the rare Louis XIV pattern, for Theodore B. Starr and Herman Marcus. It is in a bent ladle shape (may have been straight originally, but more likely it was based on designs in the George III period) and dates from about 1870, when the design was patented. It weighs 6.4 Troy ounces and measures 8" x 5", with a bowl of 4.5" x 3.5". Its unbent length would be 14.5". There is a monogram "N" on the underside of the handle...

An outstanding Restoration period French silver wine taster in the 18th century style typical of Lyon. With the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy, many old styles from the ancien regime once again came into fashion, and this tastevin, building on decorative elements typical of the 1770's, is a perfect example. Tastevins with snake-form handles were particularly popular. Those with a pair of snake heads that somewhat resemble bird's heads flanking a sphere are typical of silver from Lyon...

A late 19th or early 20th century sterling silver sauce ladle with a round bowl, marked on the back of the handle, “STERLING, J.E. CALDWELL & (the rest of the punch missing) PATENT.” The front of the handle decorated with a long tailed bird (Jay?) in foliage. On the back is more foliage, the marks, and the engraved initial “F.” Approx. 7 inches long. Approx. 60 grams. Condition: Some wear. Decoration still crisp. J.E. Caldwell were a major Philadelphia maker and retailer.

A fine early 19th century silver tastevin in the 17th century Burgundian style, inset with a Louis XIV silver ecu coin. The coin is surrounded by a “couronne” of 27 perles from which extend elongated “godrons”.
