Staghorn corkscrew with sterling silver end cap mounts. Each mount has a foliate and shell design in high relief. The naturally textured and chunky horn creates a comfortable grip. American, circa 1900. Dimensions: 5 3/4" W., 5 7/8" L.
A sterling silver reticulated scrolling mount embellishes the end of the horn corkscrew. A beaded cap further enhances the horn tip. Hallmarks for Hamilton & Hamilton, Rhode Island, circa 1900. Dimensions: 5 3/8" W., 4 1/4" L.

This historical box is beautifully inlaid in silver, profusely decorated with scrolling vines and flowers. The ends presented with reeded bands.
This piece probably would have belonged to a wealthy merchant or captain in the VOC.
A few cracks to the horn which is quite normal. A most interesting and highly collectible item.

Description: First one, wonderful early 19th century oval shape Snuff Box with raised gold painted decoration of a horseman and hounds pursuing a stag.
The other a late 19th century round example, molded to the lid with a commemorative roundel to the poet Robert Burn with a circumference of
verse, the underside with flower head and oak leaf decoration.

An attractive oval variegated horn tobacco or snuff box, with a silver escutcheon plate bearing the name John Cutberson. The box shows minor wear, with losses at the lid edge and minor abrasion from use and age but is otherwise in very good condition. A scarce and desirable piece of 18th C. English George III snuff box fashioned from horn and with a tortoiseshell veneer on the cover. Circa 1790-1810. The cover is also inlaid with a floral design in silver and gold. Chip to one corner of cover (see photo detail); hinge is firm and carved from the horn, with a snug fit to the lid. Size: 3" long x 1.5" deep x .75" high.

I am dating this piece to the early part of the 20th century.
Authentic Sheep Horn is mounted in silver and has a stepped base. The style of base suggests a 1920s time frame and it is not weighted. The candle cup is removable for cleaning. It measures approximately 10 1/2" tall and 9" wide. Unmarked. The metal is probably a heavy silverplate and there is no wear. Great patina to horn.

Hand-carved Chinese Tortoise Shell picture frame dated 1911. The fine fretwork and pierced work here is that of a master.
