A rare 1st quarter 18th Century English pressed horn snuff box. It is unsigned but almost certainly by the famous maker John Obrisset and modelled after the 17th Century medal of Charles I by John Roettiers. It has a piece missing to the rim of the lid but is a rare box and a worthwhile restoration project. It measures about 3.9" / 9.8cms long.
Chinese horn snuff bottles with metal (possibly silver) filigree mounts, adorned with small stones (possibly turqouise, red coral, etc). Measures aprox. 3" to 4" high, have removable lids with spoons.
Staghorn corkscrew with sterling silver end cap mounts. Each mount has a foliate and shell design in high relief. The naturally textured and chunky horn creates a comfortable grip. American, circa 1900. Dimensions: 5 3/4" W., 5 7/8" L.

From the Days of The VOC
This historical box is beautifully inlaid in silver, profusely decorated with scrolling vines and flowers. The ends presented with reeded bands.
This piece probably would have belonged to a wealthy merchant or captain in the VOC.
A few cracks to the horn which is quite normal. A most interesting and highly collectible item.

An attractive oval variegated horn tobacco or snuff box, with a silver escutcheon plate bearing the name John Cutberson. The box shows minor wear, with losses at the lid edge and minor abrasion from use and age but is otherwise in very good condition. A scarce and desirable piece of 18th C. English George III snuff box fashioned from horn and with a tortoiseshell veneer on the cover. Circa 1790-1810. The cover is also inlaid with a floral design in silver and gold. Chip to one corner of cover (see photo detail); hinge is firm and carved from the horn, with a snug fit to the lid. Size: 3" long x 1.5" deep x .75" high.
Authentic Sheep Horn is mounted in silver and has a stepped base. The style of base suggests a 1920s time frame and it is not weighted. The candle cup is removable for cleaning. It measures approximately 10 1/2" tall and 9" wide. Unmarked. The metal is probably a heavy silverplate and there is no wear. Great patina to horn.
A vintage 19th century turned cow horn dice or gaming cup with lid. Hand-carved Chinese Tortoise Shell picture frame dated 1911. The fine fretwork and pierced work here is that of a master. Please see the detailed crown, the entire surface of the dragon is detailed right down to the scales. At about 6" x 4" its easily one of the largest we've seen; pictured against a light background to highlight the exuberant figuring. This fine shell momento has an easel type stand at the reverse. In unusually fine state of preservation, this handsome French country snuff box is formed of blond horn studded and bound with brass. Engraved with stylized designs of birds and flowers and highlighted with deep yellow stain and inlaid red enamel, this fine folk art piece dates from the mid-Nineteenth Century and measures approximately 4-1/8 inches by 2-3/4 inches and 7/8 of an inch deep.
