Antique 18th century Islamic Turkish lacquered papier mache Ottoman firman document scroll holders, also known as kubur (ferman mahafaza kabı-kubur or Osmanlı Dönemi Ferman mahfaza kabı - kubur).

The item is cylindrical in shape and finely hand-painted in polychrome and gold. It features seven colors of birds amidst a dense gold foliate ground, along with thistle leaves...

Box in black lacquered wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl, golden details. The decor is composed of birds among plants and shrubs. The birds are very active, the one in the center tends to what appears to be a stylized egg in a nest? Probably a meaning. The designs are simple but harmonious and very elegant. The inlay work is empirical but the materials used are solide and they have stood the test of time well indeed the lacquer has not peeled off and the mother-of-pearl is still well maintained...

Large antique, 18th century, American Revolutionary war period, Pennsylvania Dutch rifleman's powder horn (1770s-1780).

It is made of a hollowed-out brown horn with a domed oval wood base secured with brass tacks and fitted with a brass loop in the center for a suspension cord.

The body is engraved in the middle with the initials J.R.K...

A stunning and very early carved head for a wig, in oak wood, gothic style of the late Scandinavian renaissance, c. 1630-60.

Very attractive features, almond eyes, thick brows and a pointed beard. This wig heads becomes common in the later 18th. century, but heads this early are exceedingly rare!

Height: c. 40 cm. - a large and impressive antiquity, that would look good with an original 17th. c. helmet as well as a wig.

Rare antique saltwater crocodile valise from Austria with heavy brass fittings, original key, and ID tag. Large in size measuring 16.5” high, 24” long, and in excellent condition, it is an impressive piece. Dates 1890-1909. The only other one we have seen was on PBS Antiques Roadshow at

A 19th C black lacquered Victorian papier-mache tabletop box with a gold Chinoiserie scene. The lid is decorated with monks in a Chinese style garden where as the sides are decorated with noble families at leisure in a similar Chinese garden. This extraordinary wood carving is a figure of Santo Nino enveloped in an oval cartouche with swirling flourishes above and below. Nino is robed in dramatic array as she holds a globe in one while giving the sign of Christ in the other. The drapery and decoration of it is exceptional as is the rich relief carving. This exceptional wood carving of a Santos was made during the early 19th C. and was executed with bold strokes with great impressiveness. The central figure is giving the sign of Christ while holding a black object - perhaps a globe - in his other hand. He is clothed with a coral colored cape, buff tunic, and black boots with gold outlining. Standing atop a sphere, he is surrounded by an oval frame - underscoring the deep relief of the carving. The top and bottom are framing devices with swirls...

Pair of large carved and painted black forest horse head shelves or wall sconces with leaves and flowers. Circa late 19th century. Wonderful and rare FACING PAIR! Measure 18" tall, 12" wide and 8" deep.

A set of tiles with a letter of the alphabet on each tile; one side with the small letter and the other side with it in capitals. Interestingly the small “s” is in the form of a small “f”, known as a “long s.” Its use was archaic by the early 19th century and since these types of tiles are thought to be used to teach spelling it seems likely that they would date from no later than the early 19th century...

A beautifully-detailed 19th Century Anglo-Indian desk set elaborately carved in ebony with a center storage box topped by a fabulous carved elephant with ivory tusks, one drawer, and lion paw feet. A tasteful Edwardian rectangular serving tray, solid oak with brass enforced rounded corners, authentic warm patina. In excellent condition, it measures 15.5 inches long by 9.75" wide. Dates circa 1900.

English Victorian Lacquered Papier Mache Game Box with hinged top, Ca. late 1800's, 10" wide, 7" deep, 1 1/4" high, top and 4 sides are decorated with very colorful lacquer design, white metal lock plate is embossed and marked with "W/VR", and red velvet with gold tooled border and old paper lined interior, deep tooled mark with big Crown on the bottom shows "... & Bett Ridge", "Makers to the Queen" Some separations between joint and lacquer losses on the surface through out.

English Papier Mache Wine Bottle Coaster, Ca. 1820, Regency period, 5 1/4" diameter, 1 7/8" high, with lacquer decorated of Red Oak Leaves and Black Acorns continued outside in the solid Gold background, Red leaves outlined in Black, inside shows some black lacquer crazing but not too bad, bottom still retains old Denim. The Lacquer painted surface shows some wears.
