A nice bronze figure of the crucified Christ, European, European, Late renaissance, c. 16th century AD.

Christ is represented with a crown of thorns and his head bent slightly to the right. With long hair and beard and he wears a pleated peritonium.

Size: 78 mm. tall and 58 mm. wide.

Condition: Fine-Very fine for the type, missing left hand othervise intact with a fine light brown patina with deposits.

Tempera on chalk and golden ground. Wooden panel. In the center the Easter event with Ascension and Resurrection of Christ. Framed by the feast day themes. Lavish gilt used and very accomplished painting!

A thick elaborate silver oklad Icon, early type of 1843, with two saints.

Height 22cm, width 18cm. Unusually thick quality silver work for these with preserved gilt in places.

Egg tempera on chalk ground. Wooden panel. Silver oklad, stamped with assayers marks 84, makers mark M.I. in Cyrillic, dated 1843. Some losses to the silver oklad.

Icon with Hodegetria. Tempera on chalk ground. Wooden panel. Gilded nimbs, ancient Greek inscriptions. Rare light colouring and with the wonderful makers seal of the Athos Monastery on reverse, recessed into the wood.

Tempera on chalk ground. Thin wooden panel with gilded background and nimbs. Very accomplished depiction with lavish gold. A piece of art.

A very attractive large Oak figure of a Catholic Benedictine monk, European, probably Germany or Holland, c. later 16th. century.

The figure depicts a younger monk with the typical dress and tonsure hair. He is standing on a octagonal plint. Remnants of the original colours especially to the head.

Height: c. 48 cm. and quite massive and heavy.

Condition: Nice Ver fine for the size and high age, loss to hands, and age cracks and very sound wood.

A late renaissance Flemish (Dutch) bronze lavabo

The bellied receptacle with zoomorphic heads to the spouts and female heads with long hair to the lugs supporting the swing handle. Lovely gothic style bronze vessel with quite much gilt present.

Size: c. 30 cm. wide and 17 cm. tall.

Condition: Extremely fine for this early piece. The heads are sharp and there's lots of preserved gilt which is rarely seen for this often very polished vessel type...
A lovely large brass alloy / bronze vessel, dating to the late 17th. cent. probably 1680-1710, workshop Nürenberg and maker was Johann Windhösel - Leuchtmacher and cappucine munk in the city in that period.

Very decorative and fine quality baroque art. The vessel with loops in the form of human figures for suspending the chains. The vessel is c. 98 cm. when hanging.

Condition: Choice and intact with a nice patina and smooth wear from use and polishing.

Probably, our finest and surely the heaviest silver icon, we've had for a while! Russian Orthodox icon with an amazing wrought and chisseled Oklad, dating 1871.

This is NOT the usual foliage thin silver sheet oklad but a a heavy thick hammered and chisseled silver oklad in a baroque style with relief heads in each corner and weighing several 100s of grams in .84 silver. Fine gilt to the details. The icon itself with four saints and Christ with halo in the sky.
