Made in Rockville, Illinois, this is probably the best dining room set we've ever had. It consists of a rare zebra wood top table, two arm chairs, four side chairs, large server, small buffet and closed china cabinet with fabulous inlay. The table, which has a drawer in one end, measures 68" long x 48" wide x 32" tall. It has two 12" leaves, both with aprons, making it 92" long when fully extended. It has flowered inlay in all corners, with inlay trim around the aprons...

An antique Japanese large Osaka Todana Tansu (storage chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress) wood. Two large sliding doors opens to a spacious area for storage. Heavily carved mahogany settee and chair with full winged griffons on arms, paw feet, and carved, reticulated tops. Probably by either Horner or Karpin. Settee measures 48" tall x 63" wide x 36" deep and chair measures 40" tall x 32" wide x 34" deep. One of the most beautifully carved pieces we've ever had the pleasure to offer for sale.

An antique Japanese Iwayado Tansu made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Yamasugi (slow growth mountain Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware and Urushi lacquer finish. Main top drawer lock plate has a flying Phoenix with surrounding drawer lock plates featuring Paulownia leaves from which the bird drinks the collected dew to get its energy. A locking bar secures two drawers and a hinged door opens to access four small drawers...

An antique Japanese Okidoko (low display stand) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. Used in a Tokonoma as a portable display stand atop which decorations like scrolls were hung or flower arrangements were displayed. Drawers were used to store items for display and the interior shelves were used to display seasonal items. All original bronze hardware.

An antique Japanese Ikebana bamboo basket in a long gourd inspired wall pocket design. Vertical ribbed herringbone weave that ends in a star crossed base. Side opening has a metal receptacle where water was kept and flowers were displayed. Upper opening allowed for long stem flowers to be showcased.

This attractively proportioned games table is a form famously produced in the Salem, Massachusetts area at the beginning of the 19th Century. The serpentine form with ovolo corners, coupled with richly carved foliate and reeded legs, is a motif used by those cabinetmakers and carvers associated with the successful workshop of Samuel Field McIntire (1757-1811). The hinged serpentine top has a serpentine front and sides with outset ovolo corners...
