There are twelve leaves, each 9" wide, making the table extend to fourteen feet when completely open. There is a center for support when open. Beautiful walnut burl three piece Renaissance Revival bedroom set circa 1880 consisting of bed measuring 64" wide x 80" long x 7'8" tall; marble top washstand measuring 32" wide x 21" deep x 47" tall; marble top dresser measuring 44" wide x 22" deep x 8' tall. Both the bed and dresser have urn finials, and the whole set is in immaculate original condition. The graining of the burl on this set, especially on the bed, is exceptional. A walnut bracket and shelf intricately carved with a panoply of Masonic symbols. The shelf portion itself folds flat against the back bracket, and is supported by a swing-out brace.

Pencilled writing on the back of this item says that it was purchased in 1938 and was believed to be over 100 years old then, which is probably about 25 years on the optimistic side. The shelf has been shellaced or varnished; 19" high, 10 1/2" wide, 6" deep.
