Back in the days when pills were made by hand, a pill rounder such as this (sometimes called a pill finisher), was used to create perfect pill spheres via use of a circular or figure-8 motion. The pill then would be dusted with powder, ready for dispensing by the apothecary.

Offered for sale is a desireable Civil War era, wide mouth, apothecary bottle sporting “FLOR. CASS.” on the under glass label! I believe that it means FLOWER CASSIA.

The nine inch tall bottle sports the following embossing on the base: "W.N.WALTON PAT'D SEPT. 23D 1862." The fancy, applied recessed label is complete, shows minor age related flaws and is in very good condition.

A set of 4 very old and nicely patinated European Powderhorns, made of flat-pressed cowhorns, leather and wood, all can be dated around 1700-1762.

One horn is particularly interesting, with the upperpart carved as an animals mouth, with an engraving of a deer and inscribed and dated 1706!
Another horn is dated and initialized to 1762, but is probably an earlier horn with a 1762 dating.

The first club, dating to 1925, has "TED RAY SEVENTY-TWO" "LADIES - SPECIAL - HAND FORGED and PUTTER" stamped on the back of the face. Case: 7.125" x 3.125” Brass and beveled glass carriage clock in the Boite Riche design with a shaped carrying handle above the flat pediment with the glazed aperture to view the platform escapement (not shown in photos). The rectangular lacquered brass case has gilt brass repousse work in narrow frieze above and below the beveled glass panels as well as around the base in a broader band.
