A mother of pearl rgp telescoping lorgnette handle from the 1890s. This eyeglasses extending handle is made of ornate rolled gold plate and hand carved mother of pearl panels with nice colour flash. It measures 5-1/4" when closed and 9-3/8" when opened. Mid to late 19th c American hand carved wood thermometer with engraved brass temperature plate. Interesting to note is that Preezing is the spelling for Freezing. This absolutely wonderful pair of Victorian opera glasses are marked Lemaire Fabt, Paris. They were made in Paris, and date back to about 1880-90. They measure 4” wide and 3” tall when fully extended and were part of the extravagant Paris opera scene during the Victorian period. What a joy to be able to take them to the opera today. It comes with leather casing with red velvet lining. Condition is good with age wear to the leather. Shipping is FREE within the U.S.

Case: 7.125" x 3.125” Brass and beveled glass carriage clock in the Boite Riche design with a shaped carrying handle above the flat pediment with the glazed aperture to view the platform escapement (not shown in photos). The rectangular lacquered brass case has gilt brass repousse work in narrow frieze above and below the beveled glass panels as well as around the base in a broader band. The case sits on brass turned feet and has a door at the back for access to the movement compartment.
