Clock, a very rare and rather unique example of the Dutch designer and sculptor Theo van Reijn. He is a designer who works in the style of the "Amsterdamse School". The Amsterdamse School is famous because of the architecture of the buildings in Amsterdam. But there where also artists who designed in the same style furniture and interiors of the houses in the years of 1920 in Holland: with an expressive force...

Finely wrought of steel and ebony, this handsome and rare "manche-a-gigot" would allow the carver-at-table to hold steady a leg-of-lamb. (This problem of service unfortunately led to the rolled-and-tied boneless -- and less succulent -- one usually resorted at tables nowadays. Then, one has not that meaty bone for next-day's fine Scotch broth!) French, Second Empire, circa third quarter of the Nineteenth Century, approximately seven inches long.

This little sewing implement is called an emery: steel needles and pins could be stuck into the velvet covered ends to be cleaned and sharpened. Made in Scotland circa 1870 the emery is in very good used condition with two tight splits on the tartan areas and minor losses to the velvet material. It measures 2-7/8 inches in circumference and 1-1/2 inches in length.

This 6-3/4 inch tartan rule is in excellent condition except for missing its black label to identify the tartan - my best research picks Royal Stewart. It was made in Scotland in the last quarter of the 19th century (circa 1880), and its function would be to roll over blotted ink (rather than to measure); also it could be used to draw a short straight line. This is one solid piece of sycamore wood covered in the printed tartan paper.

An ironstone mold made in England by Minton in the 1800's, this size used for individual aspic novelties rather than for steamed puddings. In addition to the impressed Minton mark there is an impressed number mark (939?). The decorative motif is a quatrefoil or four-leaf clover. The mold is in good condition with a tight hairline. It measures about 1-3/4 inches in height and 3-1/8 by 2-1/8 inches across the top.

An ironstone mold made in England in the late 1800's or early 1900's that was used for steamed puddings. This mold has an attractive motif of a branch with leaves and fruit or possibly nuts that would decorate the top of the unmolded dessert. It is a heavyweight ironstone ceramic, indicating its date is late Victorian. The condition is excellent with no damage. The mold measures 4-1/4 inches in height and 6-1/2 by 5-5/8 inches across the top.
