Impressive African sword of a tribal chief with a handle and a leopard skin sheath from the Benin Kingdom (now in Nigeria). The handle represents the Queen Mother (Iyoba) Idia. She used to fight with a double-edged sword. The blade is very sharp and has a deep blood groove on both sides. Measurements:

This is a LIBERIAN Sea Grass Bag from the 1850's - 1870's, from Liberia, Africa. It measures about 7 1/2" X 5 1/2" ( 19.1 cm X 14 cm ).

A Cameroons (Duala) oblong stool carved in openwork with the word KAMERUN and on the reverse with a pair of confronting leopards. Dimensions: 20 ½ in. wide x 12 ¾ in. high x 9 ½ in. deep.
Age cracks. Old repair to back of openwork panel. Early 20th cent.
The stool presumably dates from the period, pre- 1916, when the Cameroons were a German colony.

Male and female figures, sold as a pair because they go well together. Female 15.5" has small damage on foot. Male 16.5" has termite damage to the very top of the head--no termites now. Antique Japanese tamba storage jar. Large open mouth with akadobe glaze, which consists of russet and blue runny glaze. Tapers in shape down to the base. This form is animated through the irregularities of the firing of the kiln.
