A small Hopi Kachina Doll hand carved and painted by Wilson Tewaquaptewa circa 1930-1940, with chicken feathers. Tewaquaptewa (1871-1960) was the last chief of Old Oraibi. He produced Kachina dolls which are a combination of many dolls and figments of his own imagination. He believed that you didn't carve actual Kachinas for the tourist market. His dolls are usually monochromatic in color (brown, ochre and white and black). His use of symbols, painted on the case mask, seems to be arbitrary...

Oval vessel with bow handle between spout and perforated animal head, Vicús, ca. 100 - 500 AD.

Fine condition vessel from the rather illusive Vicus culture contemporary with the more well-known Moche culture. The vessel misses a very small pseudy lug handle at one side, othervise completely intact and unrepaired with some light weathering at edge of the spout.

Size: 18,5cm long.

A polychrome Hopi wicker tray circa 1920-1930. Depicting a Palik Mana wearing an elaborate tableta and a woman's shawl. On the back of the tray there is an uncommon reversal of the image which shows the figure's backside. It is also rare in that the entire body is shown, rather than just the face. Excellent condition, with normal fading on the front. 13" diameter

A larger and very refined La Tolita head. He wears a giant nosering and a cap, in hard burnt stoneware.

I have seen and collected many bird celts and axe-gods over the years. This one ranks near the top for the type. The quality of the carving is extraordinary and the jade material is wonderfully colorful. It is 3 5/8" long. It is from the Las Mercedes, Linea Vieja area. The blade is narrowed as well as deeply cut back at the waistline. The eyes are marked by drill pits set in a broad groove. A pair of knobs on the head resemble the local great horned owl...

10.5" long. One of the teeth is broken, otherwise in excellent condition given its age, great patina.

This Taino engraved bone pendant has spectacular patina showing off its antiquity. It is 3 1/4" long. The holes are correct. The skull depiction is mesmerizing.

Like many of you, I love the colorful gem points the most. You might have noticed that I specialize in this type of point and most of my points are in the gem category. I do not know what material this point is made from. It is that unusual. I can only classify it as a chalcedony. I do not know what type this point is. It was found in Nebraska. This is one of the finest Columbia River Gem Points known to exist. It may be the finest Gunther Barbed/Rogue River ever found. It is the largest example I have ever seen. It is a huge 2 3/4" long. It is made from the finest quality translucent moonstone white agate. It has beautiful patina. The tip and barbs are perfect, not even a spider bite anywhere on the piece. It is a G-10+.
